Jay's Bruins Birthday Cake

Jay, the recipient of the Bruins cake turned the big "13" this November.  Hmmmm..............someone else has a 13 year old.........who could that be?  LOL   It's me!!

Knowing Jay is very special to me.  When my Lexi was in first grade, she had the honor of Ms. Sadowski as her beloved teacher.  So, how Ms. S. and I became friends goes like this:   It's March and I am sitting next to said teacher hearing sweet and lovely comments about my big girl!!  With me, in her car seat thingy is my 6 month old, Hallie.  Ms. S. cuts to the chase and proceeds to ask me all sorts of mom questions about my little one.  She then comes clean and tells me she is in the process of adopting a beautiful baby boy and  he was precisely 2 months younger than Hallie.  Well, my little darlin' was so excited that she puked up her lunch.  Plums.......not too pretty.  Anywho,  after a few swipes of a cloth and Hallie was back to herself.  Ms. S. thinks I wiped that puke up like a pro, but she wasn't aware of my anxiety doing cartwheels in my belly!!   I knew right then and right there that she and I would be Forever Friends.  True story.

When Jay asked for one of my cakes to celebrate becoming an official teen, how could I refuse?  He wanted a vanilla cake with vanilla buttercream frosting covered in fondant featuring his much loved Bruins!  (Think they will play this year?   Sad....)    I digress.

I was honored to create this cake for the little guy, uh, I think I mean Big Guy.  (He is 13 after all!)  Happy Birthday Jonathan!!  You and your mom are quite the dynamic duo.  I am blessed to have you both in my life, and to be in yours.  :)

American and Brazillian Flag

This cake was the brainchild of, Ashley, stylist extraordinaire at my favorite salon, Smooth Hair Studio.  Her boyfriend, Raph, had completed all the hard work required to be a legal citizen of the USA.  Congrats!!

Anywho, This sheet cake was half dark chocolate fudge and half vanilla cake all covered in vanilla buttercream frosting.  Best of both worlds!!

Welcome, new citizen!  May you flourish in all that this wacky and wonderful country has to offer :)

Ninjago LEGOS Cake

I loved making this LEGOS cake!!  My good friend and neighbor, Pam, wanted something special for her nephew, Austin, who was in Massachusetts over his birthday.  Honestly, I had never heard of Ninjago.  Having daughters only, Barbie and Bratz were the staple in our home!

I jumped at the chance to make a LEGOS cake for this young man.  I think it came out quite cute, if I may say so myself!  Chocolate cake with my special buttercream frosting is always a big hit.

Austin's mom sent me a lovely thank you message for the cake.  She said her little boy was very happy.  Oh, joy!!

Anywho, another satisfied customer added to the list.  This cake decorator feels so blessed to make cake eaters smile   :)

Cody's Christening Cake

I was thrilled when Charlene, Cody's mom asked me to make this Christening cake.  Our daughters have danced together for years.  We all got to see little Cody's progress in utero during the entire dance season.  Little guy was considerate enough to make his entrance into the world the day after our very last recital of the year!

Anywho, little Cody, welcome to the world!  You have a wonderful family who loves you dearly.  Now be a good little boy and sleep through the night so momma can have the energy to play with you all day!  :)

Donut Cake

My beautiful Lexi loves to offer my services for just about every celebration she has.  One of her favorite co-workers from, Dunkin Donuts, was moving on and my girl wanted to mark the occasion with a Donut Cake.

She said the co-worker loved it! And my Lovely Lexi was the star of the day for providing the farewell cake.

Anywho, I don't mind making the cakes my girl often requests, however it wouldn't kill ya to slap a few bucks to momma for the supplies!!  Just sayin'   :)

Coffee Cup Cake

It was Cousin Ricky's first birthday since we lost my aunt, his mom, Auntie Rosie.  She was the sweetest person in the whole world!  Gone way too young and suffered for 10+ years.

Anywho, we had a lovely Sunday cookout with alcohol a'plenty.  This dark chocolate cake with mocha filling was the perfect ending to the day,
Cousin Ricky said he had no idea the cookout was going to be a celebration of his 44th birthday.  (I think he fibbed a bit)  It turned out to be a great day for Ricky and the rest of the clan, too.

Cousin Ricky, a bit of advice from someone who has been there..........I miss my dad everyday.  It never gets easier, we just learn to live with it.  We all miss her.  I know she is with my dad and he is making her laugh.  And I believe she is proud of the great guy you are.  Now, spread the wealth around a little, would ya?  :)

Cousin Dave's Cigar Smokin' Fish Cake

Ok, you know there has to be a story behind this one, right?  So, this year we celebrated Karissa's and Cousin Dave's birthday together.  Um, not sure if I want to get into the specifics of this cake, but, he sure does love smoking cigars and he loves to.....to.......Uh...Go Fishing!  For just about any old thing!  LOL

He chose a mint chocolate chip cake, and much to my surprise, it tasted just lovely!  Andes Mints in the cake with chocolate mint frosting.  Cousin Dave gave it a big thumbs up!  I must admit, it sure was fun making this one.

Anywho, now that you are a grown ass man of 40, Cousin Dave, maybe next year we can make a grown ass cake.  Whadaya think?   :)

Karissa's Stiletto 21st Birthday Cake

My Beautiful Niece, Karissa turned the Big 2-1 this year!  I can't believe it.  I was lucky enough to be the special person who changed her first poopy diaper!!  No shit!  LOL

She used to follow me everywhere I went.  She would light up when I entered the room, begging for a game of "Old Mary Mac". I felt sooooo special............ Well, now she is all grown up, working on her Bachelor Degree.  I am so proud!

Anywho, this is a chocolate cake with buttercream frosting (her favorite) and it was quite delish, I may add.  She loved it. Yay!!

Keep on the path you are on, my dear.   Ol' Aunie is always here for you.  And, Oh, the places you will go  :)

Zebra Print and Stiletto 40th Birthday Cake

Okay, I was sooo excited to make this cake for Brenda, Patti's sister (summit girls, thanks Lee and Zannie).  She thought she wanted a sheet cake, but I suggested something a little less, ,,,,,,,,,,,boring!!   LOL    Hey, you only turn the big 40 once!  Unless you are me, and have been the big 40 for the past few years.   Just sayin'...........

Anywho. I drew this sucker up and executed the plan.  All went well until I hit the, "freak out" phase of my cake decorating.  Usually, about 4 hours prior to delivery, this cake decorator gets a wave of nausea thinking that something is going to go wrong with the cake, thus ruining a perfectly good celebration.  Considering this is one of the largest cake I have ever made, (should serve 100, no really it's sooo heavy!), the freak out was superior to all the rest.  What if it sinks, what if my DH is not able to carry it to the car, what if they cancel Grey's Anatomy? What?   Um, OK...... Tony has been known to take a tumble or 2 or 10.  Clumsiness......some say it's cute, me, I want to push the bastard down again for being so friggin clumsy! Sorry, I digress, uh, ya, I feared the worst.  But, alas, the cake made it in one piece to it's final destination.  The Ativan I took prior to delivery did the trick.  And another one of a kind creation makes it to the history books.

Happy 40th Birthday, Brenda!!  You are going to shine this decade.  If not, I will spray you with shellac.  :)

Best Gift Ever Cake

Another cake for my beautiful Lexi Joy!!  19 this year.  So proud of my girl!  Working hard as a college freshmen and a couple of part time jobs to boot!  She is a chip off the ol' block, she is, I tell ya!!

Anywho, Happy Birthday my wonderful girl!!  You have made this cake decorator (mom) so very proud.  You ARE my gift from heaven.  :)

IPod Touch Cake

I have been neglecting my cake blog. :( Life got really crazy and I apologize from the bottom of my heart. I am, however, back! :)

OK, let me tell you about the Ipod Touch cake I made for one of my 2 favorite set of male twins. M & M, as their mom, Jean, my BFF refers to them, turned 16 this year. The cake came out cute, and the boys liked it a whole bunch. What I loved most about this cake was that the next day, Matt, used the headphones while doing yard work. LOL Anywho, I sure do hope the boys enjoyed their cake as much as I enjoyed making it. See you next year, guys!!
